Plaster Cast Conservation

Thanks to the HLF funded Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project, we now have the resources to conserve the School’s collection of plaster casts. Work began in 2008 on the small casts and the conservators have now started on the larger casts within the Mackintosh building.

The casts are a significant collection dating from the mid to late 19th century and form a very important part of the GSA’s archives and collections. Their conservation means that they will be preserved as a useful resource for students whilst offering visitors to the School a chance to see these fantastic casts in their original surroundings of the world renowned Mackintosh building.
